About the client

Bruce Rock is a thriving agricultural town located in the Wheatbelt region and has a population of approximately 1200 people, with 700 making up the Shire. It boasts historic buildings, Kokerbin Rock, an amphitheatre, a museum, and is a pathway to a popular tourist spot, Wave Rock.

The Brief

The Shire of Bruce Rock contracted Market Creations Agency to take on a complete rebrand project encompassing a new shire identity and tagline, website development and redesign, logo creation, and a subsequent rollout to a wide array of purposes. These included a comprehensive stationery suite comprising letterheads, compliment slips, business cards, envelopes, email templates, presentation folders, and A4 Covers. These were to be used for various document types, including, but not limited to, annual reports, policy manuals, strategic community plans, and council agendas.

Market Creations Agency also extended the rebrand efforts to numerous direct advertising methods, including classifieds, pull-up banners, town entry signage, location signage, directional signage, boundary signage, billboard signage, street signage, name badges, and a suite of uniforms.

Community Engagement

The Consultancy team worked closely alongside the Shire of Bruce Rock, listening to feedback, liaising with all involved parties, and offering creative solutions to reach the best possible outcome. Our team of consultants also engaged with the community in the form of community workshops to develop an understanding of what elements make up Bruce Rock’s identity. The six logo concepts presented to the Council were voted upon, with a clear favourite identified, further refined and adopted.

The Shire of Bruce Rock launched their new brand at a community forum at the Recreation Centre on a Friday night, with approximately 150 people attending. The brand was launched using a short video depicting the creation of the logo and the rationale that supported the design. The launch was very well received, with Shire President Stephen Strange receiving resounding applause following the brand and style guide's reveal.

New Identity

The Shire of Bruce Rock subsequently rolled out the new brand with a newly designed website, stationery, entry, wayfinding and street signage, staff uniforms, and promotional items for use by the community including water bottles, coffee cups, and stubby holders. Most of these requirements were sourced and provided by Market Creations Agency.

The Outcome

The work done for the Shire of Bruce Rock has reinvigorated the community and established a strong brand identity that has become a hallmark of our creative portfolio. The work highlights the profound effects an effective and wholesome rebrand can instil on a community, and the feedback to date from the community, the shire and the surrounding regions have been overwhelmingly positive.

“Rebranding is a turning point in the Shire’s proud history. We have recognised why people and families have decided to come to Bruce Rock. It is the welcome nature. It is a place where you are someone. It is a community that still provides an opportunity for those that want to ‘have a go’ and those that do are supported by others, and soon enough ‘Friends become Family’. The Council would like to thank and acknowledge the work carried out by Market Creations Agency and thank the Shire staff involved in the successful implementation of the new brand.”
